What is Cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency designed to work as a medium of exchange.  It is produced by a public network of computers, rather than regulatory governments.

Cryptocurrencies use cryptography to secure and verify transactions as well as to control the creation of new units of that cryptocurrency.

To date, Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency.
